For online tournaments there are 3 tasks a player needs to do.
1. Check-In:
- Team Tournaments Team Tournaments in Wordscapes work in essentially the same way as the individual Star Tournaments, except your team as a cumulative whole is competing against other teams.
- For the most part every region has their own league with NA and Europe being Riot controlled (called LCS) with the occasional tournaments that a team may take a week off to go to. They do meet up twice a year starting with the best teams from each region or past champion in All-Stars which you already missed since it started May 5th and isn't.
- The Action Building game where you team up with other players to build massive forts and battle against hordes of monsters, all while crafting and looting in giant worlds where no two games are ever the same.
- Team Tournaments in Wordscapes work in essentially the same way as the individual Star Tournaments, except your team as a cumulative whole is competing against other teams. To enter the weekly Team Tournament, tap on the “trophy” icon (also labeled with “Tourney”) below the “star” icon on the left side of the main screen.
Tournaments created on Chess.com will by default have a tie break system enabled (we use the Neustadtl score method) which factors in the strength of the opponents. If you don’t want to use tie breaks in your tournament, you can disable it in the advanced options when creating your tournament. If you do disable tie breaks, both tied players will advance to the next round.
The Events page is the most important page you’ll be using. You can access it by clicking the Events tab on the left-hand side of the tournament page, then by clicking the View Event button if you are logged in.
Upcoming matches will be displayed here. It will include the game, round, your opponent, and most importantly, the time of your match. You should be at this event page at the start of the game to check-in.
Once a round starts there is an auto-DQ countdown until you check-in. We recommend a 10-15 minute DQ timer, however this number can be changed by the TO, so it’s best to be on time.
After clicking 'View Match', a pop-up will appear with Tasks and Chat tabs. Tasks is where you will check-in, set up the game lobby, and reports scores.
2. Set up the game Lobby

After checking in, the next task will be to 'Join the game lobby'. The lobby information displayed will be game dependent.
There is also a Chat tab where you have the ability to communicate with your opponent and a moderator. This is a place where you could set up a lobby if it's not already set up, or handle disputes for ruling, scores, etc.
If you cannot resolve an issue, at the bottom of the chat box is a link to request a moderator, this will alert them and they will join the chat when available.
3. Report scores

After playing a game, in Tasks you will either report the score and have it confirmed by your opponent or verify your opponent's inputted scores. American black jack. This goes on until you've completed your match. Then, both players must confirm the final match scores.
When inputting scores, you have an option to upload an image. This can be useful if your opponent disputes your reported scores, and vice versa.

As you progress through the bracket you must continue to check-in for each of your matches. You can keep track of this on the Events page.
A poker tournament is a game with a fixed format. Everything is predetermined – the blinds, buy-in, stack sizes, antes, structure and time limit.

The buy-in can vary from free (freerolls) to .05 to $20 to $100,000. There’s always a cut for the poker room, too, which is easier to see online. Most tournaments will be labeled $X+$Y where X goes to the prize pool and Y is the amount the poker room gets.

Once you’re entered you’ll want to log in or show up when the tournament is supposed to start. For sit and go’s (SNGs), that can be whenever, as they start whenever the tables are full. But for MTTs it’s a set time and place. If you’re online the poker room will automatically seat you (randomly) at a table.
From there you’ll have a stack of chips to play with. You’ll have the same amount as everyone else, unless the tournament offers re-buys and add-ons. Then the tournament will start.
A tournament will play very much like a cash game. Once every one posts their blinds, antes, etc., each player is dealt their cards. Then they play according to that game’s and variation’s rules.
But unlike cash games, tournaments have levels. Each level will be a predetermined length – it can be 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, and so on. Each tourney will be different. But after the time’s up, when the next level starts the blinds will be higher.
For example, in a turbo 18-man on PokerStars, the blinds start at 10/20. After 5 minutes they go to 15/30, then 25/50, 50/100, and so on.
